These terms describe use of ChessStep’s chess review, practice, and game features. Questions can be sent to support@chessstep.com.
Practice tools and availability
The current tools are free to use. Features and availability may change. Engine scores, labels, hints, and difficulty settings are learning aids; they are not promises of perfect analysis, calibrated ratings, or improvement. Keep your own copies of games you need to retain.
Account responsibilities
Use an email address you control, keep your password private, and sign out on shared devices. Do not impersonate another person, attempt to access another account, disrupt games, or bypass service limits. Automated abuse may be restricted to protect other users.
Fair use of games and analysis
Only upload or share material you are entitled to use. Review finished games and use engine help where the rules permit it; do not use ChessStep to obtain prohibited assistance during a competitive game on another service. Public username lookup is subject to the source service’s availability.
Content and third-party software
You retain your rights in material you supply. ChessStep processes it to provide the requested review, game, and storage features as described in our privacy page. Stockfish is distributed under its own open-source license; see engine notices and source information. Third-party sites and services have their own terms.
Problems and corrections
Report broken features, account concerns, or teaching errors through our contact page. We cannot guarantee uninterrupted operation or that every position is explained correctly. Nothing on this page excludes rights or protections that applicable law does not allow us to exclude.
